RIHANNA SHUTS DOWN NEW ALBUM RUMORS: "LORD JESUS"

You've been waiting years for new music from Rihanna, constantly checking for updates and clues that your favorite singer is releasing another album. Rumors swirled recently that the wait was finally over after her Super Bowl performance, but Rihanna herself has shut down any notion of new music coming soon. In an Instagram Live, she gave an emphatic "Lord Jesus" in response to fans begging for an album in the comments. It's not the news you were hoping for, but don't give up hope yet. Rihanna could change her mind, and she did say she's been working on music that will sound different from her previous albums. Keep your head up and stay ready for the day Rihanna surprises us all with a new single. For now, keep streaming Anti and all your old favorites to show her how much we're all still listening.

Rihanna Dismisses New Album Rumors

You were excited when you first heard the rumors - two new albums and a massive world tour were reportedly in the works for 2024 and 2025. After nearly eight years, the Bad Gal was finally coming back to bless us with new music. At least, that's what The Daily Mirror claimed last October.

Unfortunately, just two days later, Billboard reported that their "high-level source" said those claims were "bogus." No tour or new album had been confirmed. Talk about a major disappointment for the Rihanna Navy.

Still, during an interview before her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance last year, Rihanna revealed she'd been in the studio cooking up something new and different. So there's hope yet, right? Not according to the woman herself.

When told during an Instagram Live that fans were begging for a new album in the comments, Rihanna replied: "Who said album? Lord Jesus." Looks like we'll be streaming "Work" and "Umbrella" on repeat for the foreseeable future.

Rihanna has definitely earned the right to take her time, though. Her last album Anti made history, becoming the first album by a Black female artist to spend over 400 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. And with 10 music videos surpassing 1 billion views each on YouTube, plus her incredibly successful Fenty Beauty line, it's not like she hasn't been keeping busy.

Still, we miss hearing that unmistakable voice on the radio. The good news? When Rihanna does decide to bless us with new music again, she promises it'll be "unlike anything [we're] used to." The bad news? Looks like we'll be waiting a while longer to hear it. Stay patient, Navy - our girl RiRi will be back before we know it.

Rihanna's Historic Chart Dominance

As one of the best-selling music artists of all time, Rihanna has dominated the charts like no other. With over 280 million records sold worldwide, 14 Billboard Hot 100 number one singles, and holding the record for the most cumulative weeks at number one on the Hot 100 chart with 60 weeks, she is truly in a league of her own.

Rihanna made history in 2016 when Anti became the first album by a Black female artist to spend 400 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. Now seven years later, that record still stands, cementing her status as a pioneer for women in music. Her reign seems unstoppable, as she continues to break barriers and set new records.

In 2022, Rihanna became the first female artist to surpass 10 billion views on 10 separate music videos. From the iconic “Umbrella” to “We Found Love” to “Diamonds,” Rihanna’s visuals are as memorable as her songs. Her creativity and risk-taking in her videos have shaped pop culture and inspired artists around the world.

Venturing into New Territory

While Rihanna has dominated the charts, she hasn’t limited herself to just music. In recent years, she’s become a beauty mogul and fashion icon through her Fenty brands. She's shown that pop stars can evolve into legitimate businesswomen and cultural influencers. Although fans continue to clamor for new tunes, Rihanna marches to the beat of her own drum. She’ll release music when she’s good and ready, and her Navy will be waiting.

Rihanna's impact is undeniable. Through her barrier-breaking records, trendsetting videos, and ventures beyond music, she has cemented her status as a living legend. Her reign just won’t let up, and the charts will continue to be hers for the taking whenever she’s ready to claim them again.

Contradicting Reports on New Music

The rumors surrounding Rihanna’s possible return to music seem to change every day. Just when fans think new tunes are on the horizon, RiRi herself shuts down the speculation. The conflicting reports from reputable sources leave even her most devoted followers unsure of what to believe.

A$AP Rocky, Rihanna’s partner and the father of her child, recently told fans that she was hard at work on new music. His comment gave fans hope that the musical drought may soon end. However, Rihanna quickly poured cold water on the rumor during an Instagram Live chat. “Who said album?” she replied incredulously. “Lord Jesus.” Her dismissal of the idea suggests we shouldn’t hold our breath for any new releases in 2024 or beyond.

On the other hand, The Daily Mirror reported last fall that Rihanna had big plans for her music comeback. They claimed she signed a huge deal with Live Nation to tour the world, promoting two new albums. Just as fans started buzzing about the news, an unnamed source told Billboard the story was “bogus.” No tour or album releases were actually in the works.

The conflicting stories from reputable publications and sources close to the artist leave fans understandably confused. While Rihanna has said she’s experimenting with new sounds, she seems in no rush to share the results. For now, her Navy will have to keep replaying her impressive back catalog and hoping the next rumor of new music turns out to be true. The only thing we know for sure is that when Rihanna is ready, she’s going to surprise us. Until then, we’ll have to settle for reapplying her Fenty lip gloss and re-watching the “Work” video for the millionth time.
