The genre of drill took an interesting turn in 2023. Artists and labels worked hard to continue to accelerate the sound with many dropping projects and singles throughout the year,

1. Deli - Ice Spice

Ice Spice is another breakout star of 2023. With cosigns from rap's biggest stars like Drake and Nicki Minaj, it was clear early on that Ice was destined for greatness. The Bronx superstar had the game on lock all year after dropping her debut project “Like…?”  The fifth single from the EP became a fan favorite quickly and is increasing daily in views and streams.

2. Bent - 41 (Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter, Tata)

The Brooklyn drill group 41 has had a phenomenal 2023. Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter & Tata have put the drill genre to new heights. Connecting with everyone from Fivio Foreign to Travis Scott, the trio has proven that there is still much room for NY drill music to grow and prosper. Their MCvert-produced track has amassed over 10 million streams on Spotify alone. The sky’s the limit for 41 & we’re all tuned in!

3. Ukraine - Jay Hound ft. Jay 5ive

Jay Hound’s Ukraine took over TikTok this year with over 60,000 videos and over 9 million streams on Spotify alone. The song comes with a viral dance seen all over social media. The opening line “bro hold on, lemme talk, like” captivates listeners as Jay Hound says it in his signature “Batman” voice. Jay Hound and Jay 5ive, members of the emerging NY drill group SweepersENT, are artists to watch in 2024. Jay Hound's song "Neaky" has over 3 million streams on Spotify, and fans enjoy watching his journey. We do too so we’re excited to see.

4. Mathematical Disrespect - Lil Mabu

Lil Mabu is the king of marketing when it comes to his music. The New York drill rapper is the master of utilizing trolling promotional tactics and Clever bars to get his songs out to the masses. Mathematical disrespect was a prime example of drill done right. Mabu’s record features a hard-hitting rap beat laced with subtle bars about being the best in his class.

5. Tooteres - S Dot Go ft. Kyle Richh

S Dot Go and Kyle Richh are both at the top of their class when it comes to drill. With both consistency and talent on their side, this track solidifies their role in keeping the NY drill sound alive.. Despite S Dot currently being behind bars, the young rapper is STILL dropping visuals racking up millions of views. "Tooteres" is one of those "if you know, you know" records but is sure to get the party started every time!
